The Frontier Kid

The Autobiography of Glenn J. Smith

We had a bully in our school, (not unlike most schools) that thought he certainly was the best and better than any one else in school. He was always bragging that his folks had more than anyone else, which really they did. Be that as it may, he knew I was a better shot with a gun and a better ball player. One day I was hunting rabbits with my BB gun and happened to meet him riding his bike. He started ribbing me about school and other things and I told him he was full of crap. Being about twice my size, he was going to make me take it back. I shot him in the hind end with the BB gun, which undoubtedly stung considerably. He bawled all the way home and told his dad. Well, his dad came to see my dad. After it was all over, my dad wanted to know how it all started. I told him everything and he said "Well, you probably shouldn't have shot him in the rear." My dad could be firm, but he was easy going and fair.
